BACKGROUND
Founded in 1986 by investment banker Peter Flanigan, Student
Sponsor Partners has financed and supported thousands of students
through high school by pairing them with sponsors who fund their
private high school education, mentors who provide guidance, and
dedicated staff at partner schools across the city.
What sets Student Sponsor Partners apart is that we work with
the most vulnerable kids in New York City. Many have been homeless,
countless live in NYCHA, some come from highly unstable
backgrounds, and all are in need. We believe in what we call the
?holy trinity? of support ? it includes a financial sponsor, access
to a quality parochial school, and a dedicated mentor.

IMPACT
SSP has made a positive impact in the New York community and
uses metrics to show case their results.

Serves more than 1,100 students who all live below the
poverty
More than 76 percent live in one- or no-parent
The high school graduation and college enrollment rates of our
students surpass the results of New York City's public-school
system.
In fact, 85 percent of our students graduate high school via
Student Sponsor Partners and 92 percent are accepted into
college.
Of our 2018 graduates, 99 percent were accepted into college
and 86 percent enrolled immediately.
Annually, mentors collectively spend over 7,200 hours
volunteering their time to mentor SSP

SSP has a full-time staff of 18 and an operating budget of
approximately $8.5 million. For more information about Student
